Løkken is the epitome of a seaside resort town. There are fresh fish, wide sandy beaches and unpredictable weather.
In spite of its size, Løkken has a wide range of shops for both young and old, those with a sweet tooth and those who love to keep fit. Here is really something for everyone.
Always open in LøkkenLøkken's motto is: "Løkken is open while Denmark takes time off". And it's no idle claim: All the shops are open seven days a week - practically from sunrise to sunset.
If you stray from the main thoroughfares in Løkken and go behind the town's facade, you'll see another charming side of the town. Here there are small, low-rise houses with crooked walls and windows, as if lifted straight out of a Hans Christian Andersen fairytale.

180 fishermen in 1897Right from the town's origins, fishing played an important role in the households within the town. By the middle of the 19th century, fishing had become a sustainable occupation. In 1897 there were 180 local fishermen. You can still see signs of this fishing in Løkken. On the beach you can find fishing vessels near the jetty, a tar site, signal mast and lifeboat building, which is now a museum for coastal fishing. However, not many fishermen remain.
